Jane Hanson, founder of Jane Hanson Productions LLC, has been working as an educator, clinician, director, conductor, and mezzo-soprano in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts since 1999. She has but one mission for her organization: Joy and Excellence through the performing arts, providing an ideal balance of passion and technique.

The Proficient Musician, founded in 2001, is a division of JHP dedicated to providing exceptional skills-based professional development opportunities to music educators and performers. These skills act as a catalyst for the integration of innate musical ability and newfound proficiency, fostering a greater self-knowledge and a deeper enjoyment of music. Under this branch of JHP, Ms. Hanson offers private voice instruction and coaching, masterclasses, professional development seminars, and residencies.

Bad News (boooooo!)

As some of you already know, I was hospitalized for much of the summer with viral encephalitis.  I have had to cease all of my musical activities, and am recuperating at home.  While I had hoped to be back on my feet in time to return to my normal teaching, conducting, and performing activities this fall, it is now clear that this will not be possible, and I may not be able to work for as long as a year.  As I am unable to teach at present, I plan on spending the month of September doing what I can to ensure that each of my voice students gets connected with the teachers and resources s/he needs to move forward and thrive musically in my absence.  After September, I will concentrate solely on recovering my health. On a personal note, I am so grateful to all of you who have sent well-wishes and given so generously to me of your love, time and resources.  I feel so blessed to be part of such a caring community.

Good News (hooray!)

The voice classes will continue, and in excellent hands! Jane Hanson Productions LLC will continue to offer voice classes for teens and adults, in collaboration with the Northampton Community Music Center, and I have lined up fantastic instructors to teach the classes! I will continue to oversee/direct the classes in a supervisory capacity.
